At the beginning of the summer semester of 2022, I jumped straight into Customer Experience Design. When I first started this class, I had no idea what CX design was. However, after completing the course I now understand what CX design is and hope to use it in my capstone project.
Something else that CX design taught me was that I may want to be a CX designer one day. Out of all the classes I have taken so far, this class was incredibly fun for me because we got to design a solution or make a better design for a product that already exists in the world.
For my final project for this class, I decided to redesign Discord. While Discord is a pretty amazing app that allows people to socialize and game with each other on the internet, I felt that there could be some updating that needed to happen in order for the app to be a top one on the market. The issue that I directly wanted to solve with Discord was its complicated individual messaging system. I really felt that this system was causing frustration to users and was not simple. Overall, CX design was a fun class that let me create smarter and better designs. The skills that I have learned in this class will carry on me throughout my EM journey.
