My Journey So Far
Going into my Master’s directly after my undergraduate degree was something that I knew was going to be challenging. However, this did not stop me. I knew that I no longer wanted to pursue PR, and I realized that I loved technology and design more than I had originally thought. So, I decided to jump into my Emerging Media master’s. Up until this point, I had always struggled when it came to coding and understanding web design. In fact, at the beginning of this course, I barely knew how file structures worked! Now, I am much more confident when it comes to not only file structures, but how to code and create responsive and aesthetically pleasing websites. In fact, for the first time in a long time, I really enjoy what I am doing in school. As previously stated, I have now learned much more about HTML, CSS, WordPress, Bootstrap, Javascript, and even Jquery. Besides HTML, CSS, and JS, I did not know a ton about any of the other subjects. I had used WordPress in the past, but I always found it overly confusing and complicated. Now, WordPress is my choice of software for web design. I don’t have a ton to say about my journey as an EM student, but all I can say is that I am excited and looking forward to the rest of this degree.
Having completed one year of my Master’s so far, there is a lot I have been able to learn. To date, I know how to design an effective webpage, use CSS, HTML, and Javascript, and have learned what CX or customer experience design is as well as how to design apps for apple mobile using Swift UI. This past year has been one of the most challenging years of my schooling, but I am starting to see all of the pieces of my journey come together. I am now beginning to work on my capstone project, and my partner Conor and I currently have three very solid ideas for what the project is going to be. Within the next two semesters, our ideas and project will be finalized. If the first year is going to be an indicator of what year two is going to hold, I am ready for the challenge!
With only one semester remaining, I am looking forward to wrapping up my time here in Emerging Media. It is crazy to me how fast the past year and a half have flown by. Looking back, I have learned so much about myself and learned so many new skills thanks to the Emerging Media program. I am looking forward for what the next semester has to hold and can’t want to graduate!
